“One of the reasons I have a distributed team and chose Belgrade is the talent I’ve been able to find. I’ve found highly educated, highly skilled developers with great attitudes who are very focused, want ownership, and drive the product. The talent market is easily accessible from the US, and the timezone is more favorable than Asia. InterVenture has been a great partner for me – their setup is really flexible and has a lot of transparency in terms of cost, understanding, and making sure that people are truly getting what we’ve agreed upon. They take care of everything I need, and I can just focus on the work.”
The challenge.
Redbox had the urgency to establish a scalable, cloud-based video streaming platform that could thrive in a competitive market. Without an internal engineering team equipped for digital transformation, they relied heavily on fragmented third-party vendors, resulting in higher costs and limited control over the development process. To address these issues, Redbox needed to quickly build a strong and dedicated engineering team capable of optimizing development and accelerating the launch of the new service.
The solution.
To support Redbox’s digital transformation, we established the entire department consisting of backend, frontend, mobile, and data engineers. The team rebuilt core applications for Smart TV platforms, transitioning the Vue-based app to React, resulting in a performance boost. The new standardized codebase and advanced CI/CD practices enabled future platform development. We replaced expensive third-party services with custom in-house GraphQL solutions, with zero downtime, and focused on creating a cloud-based data pipeline to support real-time analytics. The entire on-premises infrastructure was migrated to a multi-region cloud environment, significantly enhancing scalability and overall system reliability.
