Payoneer is a leading global payments platform that partners with freelancers, small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), marketplaces, and enterprises to address their most significant payment challenges. By leveraging robust technology, compliance measures, operational expertise, and a comprehensive banking infrastructure, Payoneer facilitates growth for entrepreneurs in emerging markets, making global commerce both easy and secure.
The challenge.
Payoneer faced the challenge of having to rapidly expand the talent pool and accelerate the hiring of software engineers to support their growing operations. This expansion required meeting the same technical expertise and cultural fit standards as their existing native teams. Additionally, the integration process required seamless collaboration between the newly formed engineering teams and their established Munich-based teams, ensuring a cohesive, high-performing unit capable of delivering on a global scale. These needs led Payoneer to explore nearshoring options to access specialized talent while accommodating their rapid growth and integration requirements.
The solution.
During the first year of our collaboration, we built a dedicated team of 15 backend, frontend, and QA engineers across Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Nis. This team seamlessly integrated with Payoneer’s Munich-based engineers to foster a hybrid engineering culture focused on collaboration. Leveraging a technology stack that included Java, Spring Boot, React, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), the team supported Payoneer Merchant Services’ open, provider-independent payment platform, enabling businesses to integrate various global payment methods. They further enhanced the platform by developing a Sales Assistant tool that analyzes potential webstores, assesses business and risk factors, and streamlines customer onboarding, leading to improved efficiency and conversion rates.
